Our season typically starts the last weekend in October and ends in at the end of February.

When is the deadline to sign up?

We will accept new players up until the middle of December.

How many high schools have hockey as a sanctioned sport?

Mason is one over over 80 schools in that state that have an OHSAA sanctioned team.

What if I've never played before?

Our hockey team has opportunities for players of all skill levels. Whether you have played hockey your whole life, or just want to get started, we have options at the JV and varsity level to match your skill level.

How is Mason Hockey affiliated with the school?

We are an OHSAA hockey team organized under the student activities department. Our players earn gym credit, a varsity letter, and are recognized as athletes at the school.

How do I obtain equipment if I'm new?

We collect donated equipment from former players every year so we have a large supply of gear you can use.

What if I still want the experience of travel hockey?

Many of our players come from travel hockey. The vast majority of top level travel players in the region play at the high school level. For players that want to still have a taste of travel hockey, the OHSAA offers pre-post "select" options for top level players.

How many games do you play?

We typically play between 30-35 games during our season

Are there options for JV and varsity?

Yes

How often do you practice during the season?

We typically have 2 on ice practices a week. We usually practice stickhandling after one of our practices. In addition to the on ice sessions, we also have workouts once a week at the school.

Can I still be involved in other activities if I play hockey?

Absolutely. We want our student athletes to be well rounded. Almost all of our players are involved in multiple extracurricular activities outside of hockey.

How much travel is involved?

Very little. Most our games and practices are held within a 20 minute drive from the school. This allows plenty of time to make it to other school activities and not risk missing out on a well rounded high school experience.
